What do you need to know?

Child obesity is a national problem. In 2012, one third of America’s children and adolescents were obese or overweight according to their Body Mass Index number (BMI). Being an overweight or obese puts children at extremely high risks for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, joint problems, sleep apnea, low self-esteem, stroke and various types of cancers. Today, 70% of the overweight or obese youth population has at least one risk factor that would lead to at least one of these illnesses.

What you can do!

We can overcome child obesity by making healthier lifestyle choices. There are so many easy and accessible ways to get your child active! Whether it’s taking a walk, riding a bike, or running a trail, by being active you are helping to make your child a healthier person.
