Who We Are

The mission of Lighten Up Lancaster County Coalition (LULC) is to increase the number of children and adults in Lancaster County who are at a healthy weight. In partnership with Lancaster General Health, LULC was formed in 2007 and currently is comprised of a group of concerned individuals with representation from all facets of the community including: stay-at-home parents, students, school representatives, healthcare workers, local goverment officials, food service employees, recreation/fitness professionals, human resource generalists and private businesses. New members are invited to join the Coalition to help advance the health of our community through our strategic working groups. Joining LULC provides individuals and organizations an opportunity to network with other people who share the same vision for improving the health of Lancaster County.

Data from the PA Department of Health suggests that in 2012, 64% of adults in Lancaster County wereoverweight or obese and 54% of Lancaster County youth wereoverweight or obese.

Our strategic working groups include workplace wellness, community events, school/community gardens and active transportation.
